Are you looking to finally do something about your misaligned teeth that are making your smile less attractive? For years, the only option available were metal braces: the conventional style with wires and brackets. Most adults who want to straighten their teeth are hesitant to use traditional braces because they are uncomfortable, difficult to maintain, and of course they aren’t the best looking in your mouth.

1st in Smiles is happy to provide our patients in the Plano, TX area Invisalign to give them the straight, attractive teeth they’ve always wanted and the discretion they need.

Discretion and Convenience

Invisalign’s primary advantage is that they are extremely discrete: nobody has to know that you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment but you!

Invisalign is able to achieve this because instead of unattractive metal wires and brackets that pull your teeth in place, Invisalign uses lightweight, transparent plastic aligners to gently guide your teeth to where they need to be. Unlike wire-and-bracket braces that are permanently affixed to your teeth, Invisalign aligners can be removed for meals, eating, cleaning your teeth, or times when you want to remove them for brief periods (a close-up photograph, for example). Invisalign is only required to be on your teeth 22 out of 24 hours a day to do its job.

Invisalign aligners are also more convenient because they are easy to maintain. Traditional metal braces must be kept clean by carefully and methodically removing the food bits and other build-up on the teeth and braces. You need a special brush to get between the wires and brackets! If you’re wearing Invisalign, you simply remove the aligners and use the cleaning kit your dentist supplies you with, or you could simply just run the aligners under lukewarm water.

All this means your aligners will be cleaner, protecting you from dangerous bacteria!

Finally, you don’t have to change your lifestyle for Invisalign: you don’t have to worry about what you eat because you remove the aligners for meals!

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign works much differently from traditional wire-and-bracket braces. Wire-and-bracket braces are more or less permanently stuck on your teeth for the duration of your treatment, and you’ll need to go into your dentist on a regular basis to undergo adjustments so that your teeth are going in the right direction when they need to. These adjustments are inconvenient because they require you to take a whole appointment to get them done, and they can also be very uncomfortable!

Invisalign aligners work without adjustments; you’ll need to see your dentist every six to eight weeks for progress checks, but other than that there is no further inconvenience. When your Invisalign treatment plan is generated, it creates a series of aligner designs; you get a new set of aligners every couple weeks, and each new one is different. This gently guides your teeth into place.

I’m Interested in Invisalign. What Can I Expect?

Your dentist will first want to evaluate your problem; although the vast majority of people can get Invisalign aligners, some have alignment issues that are so bad only wire-and-bracket will be able to address the problem.

Next, your dentist will use advanced imaging technology to take a 3-D scan of your teeth; this is much faster, more effective, and more comfortable for the patient than a traditional physical impression (mold). The scan is sent to software that will generate a treatment plan based on your specific teeth!

Your dentist will make some final adjustments to the treatment plan, and you’ll start getting your aligners!

Unlike wire-and-bracket braces, Invisalign aligners are also very smooth and don’t cause you discomfort when they rub up against the inside of your mouth!

In 12 – 18 months (depending on your treatment plan) you’ll be able to see the great looking, straight smile you’ve always wanted! All without having to compromise on your appearance and comfort as you would with traditional braces.

Misaligned Teeth Don’t Look Their Best

Which means you don’t, either! Study after study has shown that a person’s smile is a critical part of how successful they are, and that attractive smiles that look healthy do much better than those which aren’t.

Quit waiting for your smile to just come along! It won’t; in fact, problems with your teeth will tend to get worse the longer you put off treating them.
