Welcome to the 1st In Smiles Blog!

We are happy that you found our online home, and we hope to see you in-person sometime soon. Our Plano, Texas practice is adept at solving all sorts of dentistry-related problems.

Here’s a story for you:

Larry began coming here for dental work not long after moving to Texas from a city up north whose economy had fallen on hard times.

During his initial exam with our 1st In Smiles team, Larry admitted that he was ashamed of the his unruly teeth. He said that for as long as he could remember he has had to live with a crooked smile.

Not surprisingly, he regretted that he had not been plugged into an orthodontic solution when he was still a schoolboy.

The appearance of his teeth had always bothered him and made him feel less than confident about smiling or sharing a joke with his peers. Beyond that, it made it more difficult for him to keep his mouth fresh and clean. Now that he was no longer a boy, Larry worried that it was too late to do anything at all.

But, from where we stand, it is never too late!

Larry was almost 40 years old when we turned him on to Invisalign.

Invisalign was the perfect solution for Larry because he was not interested in walking around with clunky metal brackets and wires at his age. The thought of having that kind of gear installed for 2-3 years was more than he could take.

He truly was looking to transform his appearance and improve his oral health, self-assurance, and the like. But to him it just wasn’t worth the headaches associated with classic metal braces.

Larry did not want to commit to monthly in-office tune-ups, or carry the special tools required for cleaning, adhere to the dietary restrictions, absorb the unwanted attention, etc. And, who can blame him for feeling that way?

That’s why Invisalign works so well for grown-up orthodontic patients. Larry loved that the process would involve clear plastic aligners rather than stark metal wires and brackets. These aligners can be switched out at home every two weeks, eliminating the need for monthly tune-ups.

And Larry really couldn’t believe that the gear didn’t have to stay in his mouth nonstop in order for the treatment to be successful.

The fact that the Invisalign aligners can be removed meant that he wouldn’t have to give up the foods he loved. And he wouldn’t need any tools to clean the equipment.

In general, Larry found that his Invisalign treatment was extremely comfortable. There weren’t any mouth sores and he didn’t have to worry about bleeding along the way.

The treatment wrapped up in about a year, and no one was wise to what had been going on. And the smile that emerged was breath-taking!

Suffice it to say that Larry’s story had such a happy ending. And yours can too!
