When It Comes To Dental Implants, You Have Options!

August 15, 2017
Dr. Rick Barfield - Trusted Plano, TX Dentist

Living without a complete set of teeth can make for a frustrating, embarrassing, and unhealthy situation. But fortunately, we live in an era when sturdy, permanent replacement solutions exist in the form of dental implants. Keep reading to hear all about the different varieties we offer here at 1st In Smiles, and then be sure to contact our Plano, TX dental office to schedule your dental implants consultation with Dr. Barfield. One way or another, he’ll get you smiling BIG again!

Single Tooth Implants

Here’s the deal: single tooth implants consist of the implant itself (the prosthetic tooth root), a post, and the replacement tooth. Implant surgery at 1st In Smiles is pain-free and relatively short if your bone is healthy. We’ll gently place a screw-like titanium “root” into your jaw to replace your missing tooth’s root. If you have more than one missing tooth, we will determine beforehand how many implants are needed to support your implant restoration. The benefit to single tooth implants is that we can use them to replace multiple teeth that are not right next door to each other.

Mini Dental Implants

This one is self-explanatory. Mini dental implants are just like traditional implants, except a smaller scale version! While they can be used to replace single missing teeth, they are most commonly used to support dentures.

Here’s one advantage: traditional implants require a certain amount of jaw bone structure to be available in order for them to work. But mini dental implants are easier to place overall and require less bone to get the job done.

All On 4 Or 6 Implants

All on 4 or All on 6 implants are designed to replace an entire arch of teeth. If you are missing an entire arch of teeth on either your top or bottom jaw, we can replace all of them using this method.

Here’s how: we strategically place four dental implants (or 6, depending on your situation) to secure this arch of teeth.

Implant-Supported Dentures

To ensure that your dentures won’t be slipping and sliding at the worst possible moments, implants can be placed in your mouth so that the denture gets attached into a secure position. We can talk about the possibilities (there’s more than one way to do it) when you are here.

Learn More, Get Started!

Losing teeth as an adult is rough. But you don’t have to settle for the new normal. If you have been inspired by the possibilities outlined in this post, it’s time to take action. Our highly qualified dental team uses the latest dental technology, including our intraoral cameras and digital X-rays, to diagnose, plan, and place your implants, all within a comfortable and relaxing environment.

All you have to do is give us a call at 972-905-9266 or contact us online to get started! We’ll make sure that you are a good candidate for dental implants, and then we will get right to work on the solution that makes the most sense for your current needs and budget.
