Dental Implants: A Life-Restoring Solution

September 28, 2016
Dental Implants 2 | 1st in Smiles - Dentist Plano, TX

Welcome to another September edition of the 1st In Smiles dentistry blog!

Under the leadership of Dr. Barfield, our team has been helping the good folks of Plano, Texas to smile bigger for over 30 years now.

One thing we can tell you, though, is that you won’t feel much like smiling if you are living with the aftermath of adult tooth loss. When you are missing teeth, you won’t look like yourself and your health will take a turn for the worse.

But there is hope.

In fact, in recent years, we have invested a lot of time and resources into maximizing our restorative dentistry capabilities. The best thing we can do for you, following tooth loss, is to set you up with one of our dental implant procedures.

We have found that implants are much more stable and lifelike than bridges, and they eliminate the mess and instability of dentures. Plus, they preserve your healthy tooth structure because there’s no need for us to file down healthy teeth to place your implants (like with some of the other methods).

Keep reading to learn more about implants, and then be sure to follow up with us to schedule your dental implant consultation with Dr. Barfield.

Implants Are Easy With Us

We know that this can all be overwhelming. But there is nothing to fear. You are in competent hands with Dr. Barfield and this simple surgical procedure only requires a two-step process.

Here’s how it works: your implant will first be inserted and allowed to fuse with your bone. This will mimic the function of your root.

Once the requisite healing has taken place, a dental crown will be placed during your second visit to our office. That is the part that will look like the top of your natural teeth.

Your Appearance Will Improve

After tooth loss, eventually, your cheeks will collapse, making you look older than you really are.

Research has shown that people with missing teeth come across as cold and unapproachable, because they avoid talking to others, so they don’t have to show their teeth. This won’t serve you well at work or at play!
The good news is that the crown we place over your implant will look and feel completely natural, it will give you a fuller smile and facial support.

You will look great and regain your self-assurance and friendly demeanor too!

Implants Feel Like They Belong There

As far as artificial teeth go, nothing will be as easy or as comfortable as a dental implant. Our implant and crown combination feels so much like your natural tooth that you’ll forget that they aren’t real.

The Menu Is Expanded After Implants

You can go back to eating the foods you love, and the fiber-rich stuff that keeps you healthy after your implants are in place.

As opposed to slippery dentures, your implant will be 100% secure because it will be bonded directly to your jawbone. This means that you can eat whatever you want whenever you want, without worry.

Implants Are Easy To Take Care Of

There is no special drill required. You simply brush and floss like you normally would, and come into our office for regular checkups to make sure your gums are healthy.

That’s all there is to it!

You Have Good Options

At our Texas dentist’s office, we offer several possibilities for implants.

Single implants are great for patients missing one tooth. These can be finished in a day and ready in only a few months.

Multiple implants can work well for permanent bridges. Mini implants are good for patients with bone loss or who need an implant in a tight area.

All-On-4® and All-On-6® implants can give you a new set of teeth that are permanently attached. We also offer implant-supported dentures, if that is something you’d like to explore.

Restore Your Your Life Today!

We hope you have been inspired to take the next step. Call us today at 972-905-9266 or contact us online to schedule your dental implant consultation at 1st In Smiles of Plano, Texas!
