Know the Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry
Many of our patients are hesitant to undergo cosmetic dental procedures because they fear they are being vain or self-absorbed. While we have all seen people who have taken cosmetic dentistry to the extreme, understand that our office practices safe and ethical cosmetic dentistry that will leave you with a natural-looking and beautiful smile. Our goal –whether it’s preventive or cosmetic – is to give you a smile that will make your look and feel great.
Cosmetic dentistry deals with more than the way you look. According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, about 98 percent of Americans would change at least one thing about their smile. In addition, studies have shown that cosmetic dental procedures can give patients the confidence they need to thrive in social and professional situations. The fact is, when you look your best, you are more outgoing and confident.
At Ist In Smiles, we sit with every patient to see how our procedures can benefit them. We never try to push any treatment or sell you treatments that you do not need. Here is a look at some of the cosmetic dental procedures that can improve your smile.
Teeth-Whitening in the Office
Teeth-whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments in the world. You’ll find teeth-whitening products in just about every drugstore or grocery store these days. Americans spend about $1 billion on whitening treatments or products every year. However, most of those products cannot remove heavy stains or improve the brightness of your teeth by several shades. Our office can do both. We offer in-office and at-home Opalescence Boost Whitening that can brighten your smile by several shades. Our whitening treatments also includes ingredients that strengthen the enamel and protect your teeth from decay. We can complete in-office whitening in about 90 minutes, or we can fashion take-home trays so you can whiten your teeth at home.
Porcelain Veneers Strengthen Your Teeth
Veneers are one of the most versatile treatments that we offer in our office. Veneers can cover heavy stains, chips, cracks, breaks or discoloration. The biggest benefit from veneers is that the restoration can actually strengthen your teeth. Some patients have weak enamel that is more susceptible to erosion or decay. Other patients also have had root canals on their front teeth that leaves the teeth weakened. When we complete a root canal on your front teeth, we do not restore the tooth with a crown. And over time, it’s possible for the tooth to discolor and weaken. When the enamel of your tooth is weakened, it’s more likely to chip or break.
Porcelain veneers are placed over the course of two visits. First, we prepare the tooth and take molds of the tooth. In order to prepare the tooth, we remove a small portion of the enamel to make sure the permanent restoration fits perfectly. We’ll wear a temporary restoration will a technician develops your beautiful, natural-looking veneers. Our veneers are very durable and do not stain. It’s important to research if veneers are right for you, because the procedure does require us to remove some of the enamel. Enamel is the hardest substance in your body, but once it erodes or is removed, it needs to be replaced with a restoration. In addition to porcelain veneers, we can correct damaged teeth with dental crowns.
We also provide gum reshaping for patients who have a “gummy smile.” By reshaping the gums, we can make sure the gums are even and do not cover too much of the tooth. The procedure is minimally invasive and it will give your a more uniform smile.
