At 1st In Smiles, it is our privilege to be your partner in oral health.

The general idea is to keep your mouth clean and your smile looking its best, through every stage of life. And regardless of your age, you’ll feel comfortable because our compassionate staff treats you like family and provides you with the same level of care we would extend to our own family members!

But, you should know that maintaining a healthy smile all through life is a daily undertaking. And since you only see us twice a year, we can only do so much.

It will be up to you to adopt good oral hygiene habits and to oversee your progress at home. If you don’t know where to begin, start by brushing your teeth two times a day or more for two or more minutes per session.

Then try flossing, rinsing with mouthwash, and drinking tap water. Why? Because these things are the very least you can do to stay on track until you make it back for your next preventive dentistry appointment in our Plano, Texas office.

Like we said, we are your trusty sidekick in all this. After all, you wouldn’t want to fight this never-ending war all by yourself! Having a dentist around that you can trust to handle your ever-expanding needs will be increasingly important as you age.

Cleanings & Exams

Plan on having receiving comprehensive dental exams and professional teeth cleanings from us every 3-6 months so that we can remain in-step with any unfolding situations in your mouth, or elsewhere in your body.

Not to scare you, but periodontal disease and cancer can sneak up on you if you put off these important visits. Plus, early treatments always work out better in the end. They are less painful and expensive!

What’s more, our deep teeth cleanings will further stave off bacteria, tartar, plaque, food remnants, and so forth. Our dental cleanings will also help keep your gums in good shape, which will, in the long run, prevent the misery associated with tooth loss.

Don’t worry, we’ll make it easy on you to keep up with your oral health. If it has been a while since you’ve had a professional teeth cleaning, you won’t get a condescending lecture from us, but we might need to spend a little extra time with you to make sure we take care of the buildup on your teeth, especially if you’re showing signs of gingivitis. You’ll thank us later!

And if you are dealing with any level of dental anxiety, we can hook you up with sedation dentistry. At our Plano practice, we offer three different types—nitrous oxide, oral, and IV—all in an effort to comfortably deliver the care you deserve.

Healthy smiles require some real effort and strategic teamwork. But it will be worth it.
