Reshape Your Smile with Lumineers

October 20, 2015

Do you have minor imperfections in your smile? Small flaws like chipped teeth, misshapen teeth, or cracked teeth can leave you feeling embarrassed to smile. But just because a problem is small or cosmetic doesn’t mean that your dentist can’t fix it.

At 1st In Smiles in Plano, TX, we offer dental veneers. Veneers are one of the fast and easiest way to correct several issues with your smile. Veneers are painless and easy to apply; in just two visits we can have you grinning widely with a beautiful new smile. At 1st In Smiles we offer Lumineers, a revolutionary type of veneers. In today’s post of our dental health blog, we’re going to tell you more about Lumineers.

What are Lumineers?

Lumineers are a special-type of veneers designed to help cover flaws in your smiles. Lumineers can be used to cover many different perfections with your teeth. We can use use them to correct cracked teeth or chipped teeth.

Veneers are also great for covering deeply stained or discolored teeth, for a whiter smile. Veneers work even if your teeth don’t respond to professional teeth whitening. We can also use veneers to close small gaps in your smile, or otherwise cover misaligned teeth.

Veneers are thin shells which applied to the enamel of your teeth. Lumineers are one of the best varieties of veneers available. They are constructed out of high-quality materials and are extremely durable. Once applied, Lumineers will shine and appear just like your natural teeth.

How are Lumineers Applied?

Lumineers can be applied in just two quick visits to our comfortable and modern office in Plano, TX. During your first appointment, we take a custom mold of your teeth. This mold is used to crete a custom-set of veneers which will fit your smile perfectly. We can match the shade of the Lumineers to your other teeth, or if you want whiter teeth, you can select a whiter shade of Lumineers.

During the following appointment, we begin by ensuring that your Lumineers are the appropriate color and fit. We then bond the Lumineers onto the enamel of your teeth. Other veneers, such as porcelain veneers, require a significant portion of your enamel to be removed to make room for the veneers. But Lumineers are different; their thin construction means little to no removal of your tooth enamel.

Lumineers are a painless process. They do not require the use of local anesthesia to apply, unlike other types of veneers. Lumineers only take about an hour to apply. That means you can leave with a brilliant new smile during a lunch break!

Lumineers can last up to two decades, as long as you maintain proper oral hygiene. Lumineers are a cosmetic procedure that can be used in conjunction with other cosmetic dental procedures such as teeth recontouring. Veneers can even work as alternative to braces if you just need to correct slightly crooked teeth.
