Dental implants

Welcome back to another blog by 1st In Smiles! Today we would like to remind you about all of the wonderful dental implant options to choose from! If you are searching for a tooth replacement option and just are not sure which option is the best for you, you have come to the right place. While we do offer non-implant options such as removable dentures and bridges, dental implants will provide you with the most secure, healthy, and authentic experience.

Please feel free to contact our Plano, TX dental office at any time if you have any questions or concerns. We would be happy to help you get all of the information you need to make the best decision for your smile.

Single Tooth Implants

Single tooth dental implants are pretty easy to understand, as they are simply meant to replace just a single tooth! However, that does not mean they are out of the question if you are missing multiple teeth! Single tooth implants are comprised of the implant itself (the prosthetic tooth root), a post, and the replacement tooth. We can place these pretty much anywhere in your mouth to replace a tooth. The benefit to single tooth implants is that we can use them to replace multiple teeth that are not right next to each other.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are just like traditional implants, except smaller! They can be used to replace single missing teeth, but are also commonly used to support dentures (see below). Mini implants are great because, due to their small size and lower cost, are more accessible to a larger group of people. While traditional implants require a certain amount of jaw bone structure to be available to place, mini dental implants are easier to place and require less bone. This means that they can be an option for you even if you have experienced some jaw bone deterioration! Talk to our team to find out if mini implants are for you.

All on 4 or 6 Implants

All on 4 or All on 6 implants are designed to replace an entire arch of teeth. If you are missing an entire arch of teeth on either your top or bottom jaw (or maybe both), we can replace all of them using this method. We strategically place four dental implants (or 6, depending on the level of stability your situation requires) to secure this arch of teeth. This is our most secure option for replacing entire arches and is non-removable and permanent. Many of our patients choose this method because the results are fantastic — you can achieve a strong, healthy, beautiful smile with this replacement option.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Do you currently have dentures? Maybe you only have enough bone structure left for mini dental implants? Our implant-supported dentures might be right for you. This can be a full-arch or a full-mouth solution much like All on 4, but the prosthetic is less permanent. The implants are placed and then the denture is simply attached into position. This set up can look different depending on your specific situation, but it is a great option for patients who want to avoid the unpleasantries associated with removable dentures.
