Teeth that are worn, stained, and that have been otherwise damaged by decay are unsightly and can make smiling at others (or for photographs) an almost painful experience. Repairing all that damage is possible, but in cases where the damage is mostly cosmetic (that is, damage that doesn’t significantly impact your oral health), veneers are a good option.

Veneers cover damaged teeth, making them appear more youthful and bright while preserving the look of natural teeth. In our Plano, TX practice, we offer our patients an advanced type of veneer called Lumineers.

Lumineers Are:

  • Placed painlessly; the procedure is “low impact” and leaves your natural teeth completely in tact.
  • Are thinner than other veneers, yet are also more durable: Lumineers have a proven lifespan of twenty years (with proper maintenance and care). They are also more translucent. This means that light interacts with them in a way that is virtually indistinguishable from natural enamel.

Your teeth will look years younger, and because Lumineers blend seamlessly with your natural teeth in appearance, nobody will know that you have them in!

How Are Veneers Placed?

First, your dentist will take an impression (mold) of your teeth; this will be used to design veneers to fit your teeth exactly. The impression is then sent to a Lumineers lab, where your veneers are fabricated.

Conventional veneers are two to even three times thicker than Lumineers (which are only 0.2 millimeters thick; that’s the thickness of about two sheets of paper). Thicker veneers require that part of the tooth’s surface be filed down so that the veneers will “fit” where they are supposed to. This includes removal of some enamel, which protects your teeth from infection (it also doesn’t grow back, nor is there a viable artificial replacement for enamel).

Lumineers don’t require any filing down of the tooth surface. This has two key benefits: one, placing them is a painless procedure, and two, Lumineers can be removed if necessary.

In two easy, pain-free appointments, your smile will look many shades whiter and show no signs of wear or other damage. Plus, Lumineers don’t put any restrictions on your lifestyle or the food you eat. The only thing you’ll need to get used to is all the positive attention your new smile will bring!

We Don’t Just Stop at Veneers. 1st in Smiles Has So Much More!

Veneers can solve lots of cosmetic problems, but as every person is unique, so too are their dental and oral health needs. 1st in Smiles also offers its patients:

Teeth Whitening and Bleaching

Teeth whitening and bleaching is the most popular form of cosmetic dentistry in the world. It’s a fast and dramatic way to improve your smile! Depending on your needs, your dentist can supply you with a take-home kit (you’ll wear whitening trays either overnight, or for thirty minutes when you’re awake) or if you’re interested in getting results fast, you can come in to the office for your treatment. In less than an hour your teeth will be noticeably whiter and brighter by several shades!

Invisalign

Don’t let misaligned teeth ruin your smile! Invisalign can get you the straight teeth and the attractive smile you’ve always wanted. Invisalign is gentle, require less maintenance than traditional braces, and most importantly, Invisalign aligners are transparent, making them virtually invisible!

Teeth Recontouring

Even the smallest crack or chip can have a huge impact on your smile and appearance. Teeth recontouring is a method of shaping the teeth by removing small amounts of enamel (so small that removal is harmless) to improve their appearance. Tooth recontrouring is painless and quick!

Gum Reshaping

Do you have a “gummy smile” (your smile shows a lot more gum than teeth) or has disease caused your gums to recede, making your teeth appear longer (with a root exposed)? Gum reshaping is the process of evening out the gums to enhance your appearance.

Does Going to the Dentist Make You Nervous?

All these procedures are virtually pain-free, but if you are still nervous about dental procedures, 1st in Smiles also offers sedation dentistry options to help you relax while you’re in the chair. Don’t let fear stand in the way of your smile!
