We do a lot of cosmetic dentistry at our office. From an orthodontic standpoint we will do Invisalign which are clear trays that somebody wears in their mouth for a period of about three weeks and every three weeks we give them a new set of trays and this slowly moves their teeth until we get the desired result that we are looking for. We also do in-office tooth whitening and we have take home tooth whitening. We also do porcelain restorations and there are various types of porcelain restoration. Sometimes we do solid porcelain crowns on teeth. Some teeth require porcelain veneers and in some cases we can use Lumineers which are a porcelain restoration which doesn’t even require removing any tooth structure. We take these really thin porcelain restorations that are about the thickness of a contact lens and bond them onto teeth.
Are you embarrassed about your smile? Do you keep your mouth closed in pictures or avoid talking to people so you don’t have to show your teeth? Your smile is one of the first things others notice about your appearance, so it’s no wonder we spend so much time thinking about how it will look to those around us.
Whatever the reason you’re unhappy when it comes to your smile, 1st In Smiles has many solutions for you! From veneers and teeth whitening to Invisalign and tooth reshaping, our cosmetic dentistry services will allow you to show off your beautiful smile to everyone!
Is your goal to hide imperfections and get a perfect smile that will never fade? Then veneers may be right for you. Dr. Barfield has taken advantage of today’s advanced dental technology to bring you Lumineer veneers. These incredibly thin, lifelike veneers have the benefit of preserving more of your tooth than traditional veneers, and they usually take only one visit to place on your teeth. See our detailed page on Lumineers for more information.

Teeth Recontouring and Gum Reshaping
Do you have one or more teeth that are oddly shaped, slightly chipped, or different sizes and lengths? Perhaps you have pits in your enamel or pointy canines that are making your smile less than perfect. If so, you may benefit from teeth recontouring, or teeth reshaping. For this simple, minimally invasive procedure, we use a small sanding device to carefully reshape your teeth, making their appearance more uniform.
If your gums give you a “gummy smile” because your teeth appear too large, too small, too long, or too short, gum reshaping can even out your gum line and give you a straighter looking smile. This is also a common procedure we use to improve the appearance of your gums after we’ve treated you for gum disease.
Dr. Barfield works closely with a skilled periodontist, a gum specialist with advanced training, to provide these often quick, inexpensive cosmetic procedures that can improve your smile without braces.
Dr. Rick Barfield is a native of Richardson, Texas. He received his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from the Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry and has been providing trusted dental care in the Plano, TX area for more than 30 years.
