Keep Your Mouth Healthy with Regular Dental Cleanings and Dental Exams in Plano, TX
Well we do a comprehensive examination with every patient when we see them. We think it is important for them to have their teeth cleaned on a regular basis. Some people have some periodontal issues that require more than just a regular cleaning. We can do non-surgical periodontal procedures in our office which is called scaling and root planing and in some cases, it’s going to require more than just a non-surgical periodontal treatment and we have a periodontist who works in our office on Saturdays and she can provide surgical procedures for those patients who need more extensive periodontal treatment.
Getting regular professional dental cleanings is one of the most important ways to maintain good oral health. Even the best toothbrushes and most meticulous flossing can’t do what a professional cleaning can for a healthy smile that lasts a lifetime.
Your regular dental exams at 1st In Smiles will not only provide you with a professional cleaning. It will also give Dr. Barfield and his team a chance to check for problems, like cavities and gum disease, and work with you to create a personalized plan for good oral hygiene at home and treatments we can do to improve your smile.
When you come into our Plano, TX office for your first exam, we’ll welcome you and then do a complete evaluation of your mouth. After we review your medical and dental history, we’ll take panoramic digital X-rays and use an intraoral camera if we need to get a closer look inside your mouth. This advanced dental technology allows us to get a clear, accurate picture of the condition of your mouth. We’ll also talk about any pain you’re having and any visible issues that may need to be addressed.
After we gather this information, we’ll examine your mouth to look for early signs of serious problems. We’ll do a thorough cleaning to remove plaque and polish your teeth, and then Dr. Barfield will discuss possible preventative treatments and solutions that are appropriate for your unique situation. He’ll work closely with you to create your treatment plan and take time to answer any questions you have.
When your appointment is over, you’ll head to financing to discuss our flexible payment options and decide how you can best pay for any future treatments. Let us know if you’d like to take advantage our new patient special: a free Sonicare toothbrush with the cost of your exam and X-rays, or a free exam and X-rays with the purchase of the Sonicare toothbrush!
To ensure that we get a thorough understanding of your mouth’s health, you can expect your first appointment to take about 1 ½ to 2 hours. If you’re short on time, however, we can do your cleaning at a separate appointment that’s more convenient for you.
If you’re ready for an exam but are embarrassed about the condition of your mouth, don’t let that stop you from coming! Our office is a guilt-free zone, so there’s no reason to worry about us lecturing or judging you! Our only goal is to help you get back on track to great oral health.
